This course offers training in the knowledge and skills needed to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B). Course curriculum includes didactic and practical instruction in critical thinking skills, crisis intervention, emergency scene management, proper recognition and management of medical emergencies, trauma patient care and general ambulance operations.
The program is accredited by the State of Ohio Division of EMS (ODPS Accreditation #109) and will prepare students for certification by the National Registry of Emergency Medica Technicians (NREMT).
Course methods of instruction have been re-formatted to prepare graduates for future paramedic education. Curriculum is in accordance with the State of Ohio Division of EMS with testing by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Admission Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED/Enrollment in Adult Diploma Program through CVCC
- Valid Driver’s License
- Successful completion of ACT WorkKeys pre-entrance assessment
Clinical Requirements:
- Appropriate medical documentation
- Cleared Background Check
All Emergency Medical Technicican-Basic students are required to take the ACT WorkKeys assessment before starting the program. For more information or to schedule a time for the assessment, call 440-746-8230.
Tuition includes: State EMT practice test, AHA Basic Life Support CPR training, all course books, clinical fees, insurance coverage, uniform shirt, and NREMT exam fee (for one attempt)
Some Saturdays may be included in the class schedule with advanced notice.
