A focus on the principles of obtaining peripheral and capillary blood samples. Anatomy and terminology with emphasis on cardiovascular and circulatory. Specimen collection and processing, communication skills, clerical, safety standards, legal, ethical and professional credentials covered. Laboratory simulators give a hands-on approach to enhance classroom learning. BLS Health HealthCare Provider certification, NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam, book fee and student professional liability insurance included in tuition. Student is responsible for fees associated with obtaining a background check, physical exam, uniform, appropriate vaccinations and medical records.  

Prerequisites:
Complete and Pass These On-line Courses through CVCC:
*Both courses are offered on-line as instructor-led or self-paced. Please allow up to 12 weeks to complete coursework.
**Tuition for these courses ranges from $100-$115 each.

Admission Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED/Enrollment in Adult Diploma Program through CVCC
  • Valid Government Issued Photo I.D.
  • Completion of Prerequisites
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: January 16th, 2023 

Clinical Rotation: 100 clock hours -  Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., & Fri.  4/10/2023-5/05/2023
  • Clinical locations and schedules may vary from one student to another
  • Students must accept their assigned location and schedule, which is determined by the clinical site based on availability and staffing
  • The 100 hour clinical rotation are typically an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday starting as early as 4am. No evening or weekend clinical rotations are available.
 Requirements for Clinical Placement:
  • Cleared Background Check
  • 2-Step TB test within one (1) year before clinical start date with annual updates while in the clinical portion of training
  • Appropriate immunizations
  • Completion of American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support CPR course (included in program)
